SMILE!

POne cold and misty Christmas morning in the very depth of winter after a heavy fall of snow, only Farmer Evans and the local Vicar managed to get to the church for the morning service.
'Well,' said the Vicar, 'I guess there's no point in having a service today.'
‘That's not how I see it.' said Farmer Evans smartly. 'If only one cow turns up at feeding time, I still feed it.’
So the Vicar went through the whole service — carols, prayers and readings — and at the end asked Farmer Evans what he thought of it. “Well,” said the farmer, “if only one cow turned up at feeding time, I wouldn’t give her the lot.”

An elderly man felt it was too difficult to find presents for all his grand-children, so he decided to send them cards with a cheque. He wrote inside each card: “Happy Christmas. Love from Grand-dad. P. S. Buy your own present.”
After Christmas he discovered a pile of cheques, and realised he had forgotten to enclose them.

A little boy was terrified of Father Christmas. He was diagnosed as suffering from Claus-trophobia.

An Eskimo tried to keep warm while fishing by lighting a fire in his kayak. It caught fire and sank. The moral of this story: “You can't have your kayak and heat it.”

WIT & WISDOM

PAUSE FOR THOUHT:

Almighty God squeezed Himself tight and became a little child. Then He who satisfies every living thing fed His hunger at a mother’s breast. He who never slumbers or sleeps learned to sleep through the night. He who spoke all creation into being learned to say ‘please’ and ‘thank you.’ He who made countless galaxies learned to count to ten. And then He said ‘Unless you, too, become like a little child, you cannot enter the kingdom of heaven.’ —Susan Lenzkes

As we commemorate the birth of the Lord Jesus, let’s be mindful of how much brighter this world is because He came into it. Jesus declared, “I am the light of the world. He who follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”(John 8: 12).
— Richard de Haan

If this is to be a Happy New Year, a year of usefulness, a year in which we shall live to make this earth better, it is because God will direct our pathway. How important then, to feel our dependence upon Him! — Matthew Simpson
